Norway Registers Development AS will cooperate with Malawi mHub

Norway Registers Development AS – a legal, consulting, project leadership and know-how hub for a global information technology and consulting group NRD Companies – signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Technology Innovation hub in Malawi – mHub.

The parties agreed to work together in order to support economic reforms in Malawi and Southeast Africa, by promoting strategic ICT investment and collaborating in the areas of enabling the business environment & job creation, facilitating financial inclusion and access to finance, securing digital environment and other e-governance and soft digital infrastructure development-related areas.

We firmly believe in the potential of the region and, having over 20 years of experience in more than 50 countries worldwide, we are aware of the importance of engaging with local communities to build more relevant and sustainable solutions. Therefore, we are looking forward to collaborating with innovators at mHub to deliver high-impact solutions that would contribute to ICT-driven economic development in Malawi”, commented Mr Rimantas Žylius, Managing Director at Norway Registers Development AS.

According to the CEO of mHub Mr Vincent Kumwenda, partnering with industry leaders allow their community members to develop their skills and put them in practice.  

“mHub seeks to enhance the growth of the ICT sector in Malawi by cultivating and nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship in technology among the youth. We are excited about the partnership with NRD because of their unique know-how and wide international experience. We will also seek to utilise their cyber security capabilities – engage in common efforts to build cyber security capacity in Malawi by promoting cyber security mindset among IT communities, increasing cyber security awareness within the general public and providing cyber security education to young entrepreneurs in Malawi”, said Vincent Kumwenda, CEO mHub.

The Parties agreed that mHub will provide support and relevant expertise as Norway Registers Development AS (NRD) partner for projects in Malawi as well as help NRD comprehend, engage with, and collect information about the context and communities in which their projects are being deployed. Meanwhile, NRD will provide MHub access to proprietary historic and new information, advice, and research material and actively engage in common efforts, seeking to transfer knowledge and build sustainable local capacities. It will also help raise awareness and spread technologies and solutions developed by mHub members to other Southeast and East African countries.

The Parties also agreed to accept other partners to join the MoU, provided they are committed to the aims of the MoU and provide valuable contribution.
