Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius received a delegation from the Kingdom of Bhutan in Vilnius on July 12. The Delegation was led by Kesang Wangdi, Director of the Bilateral Relations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bhutan.

“We hope that we will soon establish diplomatic relations with Bhutan, and currently we are striving for closer dialogue, offering our experience in implementing reforms and strengthening institutions,” commented the minister Linkevičius.

According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lithuania can offer cooperation in the fields of agriculture and food, chemical industry, alternative – especially solar – energy, medical equipment, information technologies. In addition, there are already some success stories of such cooperation between the two countries: Lithuanian-based registry information system development company NRD has implemented a consultancy project “Enterprise Registration and Legal Regulation in Bhutan” in 2005-2007, and last year NRD Cyber Security, together with its partners, assisted the Government of Bhutan in creating a national cyber security incident response team in the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications under the Ministry of Information and Communications. It is aimed at coordinating information flows, managing cyber threats, responding to attacks and strengthening cyber-security in the country.
