Institutional capacity building in the field of consumer rights in East African countries

Norway Registers Development AS (NDR AS), part of NRD Companies together with the partner – Private Sector Foundation Uganda starts the project dedicated the implementation of the following concepts – “Support to institutional capacity building in the field of consumer rights in East African countries “.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania assists the implementation of development cooperation projects under the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme in 2020. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania in 2019 called to submit applications for the implementation of development cooperation projects under the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme in 2020.

As NRD AS has many years of experience working with Ugandan public administrations to help implement the digital transformations of organizations and thus significantly improve the delivery of public services to citizens and businesses. NRD AS signed a project implementation agreement with the Lithuanian Central Project Management Agency at the beginning of this year and starts the project implementation activities.

The aim of the project is to develop a digital transformation plan to streamline microfinance supervision and regulation processes for Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority. The project is funded by the Development Cooperation and Democracy Support Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.

Expected project results and outcomes are the following:

  • Analysis of the regulatory, organizational and technological environment conducted.
  • Ongoing advice on changing organizational and technological solutions provided.
  • Digital transformation plan for the organization, providing for the transfer of activities/ processes to the digital environment developed. (Recommendations for organization management and implementation of technology solutions prepared).
  • Digital Transformation Plan developed and presented to Ugandan interested institutions.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of October, 2020.
