A digital modernization initiative in Anguilla has expanded the capabilities of an existing electronic company registration system to support the secure and structured management of Beneficial Ownership (BO) information. The enhancements mark an important step in strengthening the jurisdiction’s framework for transparency, accountability, and combating illicit financial flows.

Advancing Transparency and Combating Financial Crime

As part of Anguilla’s ongoing digital transformation efforts, the enhanced platform introduces new capabilities designed to support the management of information on individuals who ultimately own or control legal entities.

The improvements are designed to strengthen regulatory oversight, improve data integrity, and support compliance with evolving Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) requirements.

Key Enhancements to the Digital Registration Platform

The modernization project expanded an existing electronic company registration system, which supports company registration and business data management in Anguilla, with advanced functionalities for secure, efficient, and transparent Beneficial Ownership information handling.

The upgraded platform is designed to provide:

  • Controlled, Transparent Access: Authorized users can securely request Beneficial Ownership information through a structured and auditable process.
  • Enhanced Privacy Controls: Justified suppression requests for sensitive data balance privacy needs with regulatory transparency.
  • Role-Based Access and Accountability: Three defined user groups – Domestic Competent Authorities, Public Users, and Banks/Incorporated Legal Entities – ensure appropriate, traceable system access.
  • Operational Efficiency: Automated reports, advanced search capabilities, and analytics improve oversight and decision-making.
  • Improved User Experience: Integrated online payments and streamlined workflows simplify service delivery for stakeholders.

Strengthening the Foundation for a Transparent Jurisdiction

With these enhancements, Anguilla has strengthened its technical foundation for managing and controlling access to company ownership data. The upgraded system is designed to support investigations, compliance monitoring, and policy enforcement, contributing to the jurisdiction’s continued efforts to maintain a transparent and well-regulated international financial centre.

For NRD Companies, the project builds on its extensive experience in registry modernization and regulatory technology, supporting public institutions in strengthening digital infrastructure and adapting to evolving regulatory requirements.

Building on an Established Digital Foundation

The project was delivered by NRD Companies, building on an existing digital registration platform previously implemented by the company in Anguilla.

Rather than introducing a separate solution, the modernization focused on expanding the capabilities of the existing system. All new functionalities were developed within the established infrastructure to ensure stability, seamless integration, and continuity of ongoing operations.

With decades of registry modernization experience and an established regional presence, NRD Companies continues to support the development of secure, efficient, and transparent digital registry systems.
