NRD AS has signed a two-year Cooperation and Services Agreement with SimbaNET

NRD AS (NRD), a Norwegian company specialized in business enabling environments, and SimbaNET, part of Wananchi Group with Pan African presence, specialized in providing high Speed Data, Voice and Video, have signed a two-year Cooperation and Services Agreement worth approx. 3.2 million USD.

The main objective of the Agreement is to join forces in providing cyber security and business continuity services in the East African region in order to create a secure digital environment for states, governments, corporations and citizens. The parties will share their knowledge, experience and resources to increase the value and security of the services to SimbaNET’s clients as well as cover East African Market as a whole and help them maintain the competitive advantage in the territories of United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Kenya and Republic of Uganda.

NRD and SimbaNET have agreed to jointly serve SimbaNET’s clients as well as East African Market in the war against increasing cyber threats, improve their resilience and ensure business continuity by employing state-of-the-art tools. The agreement covers cyber security, IT infrastructure engineering, data centers, backup, disaster recovery and other IT infrastructure related services as well as capacity building trainings. Both parties have agreed that the NRD cyber security services within the territory shall be offered exclusively by SimbaNET.

“We are very pleased with the Agreement,” said Munish Sharma – General Manager @ SimbaNET. “Due to the fact that SimbaNET already is a proven leader in the corporate segment of Tanzania and is currently expanding, this alliance will have a real impact towards our common mission – making our services in the East African region more reliable and secure. It will empower our cIients by protecting their valuable data – the backbone of any organisation”.

“Cyber security is the need of the hour as internet penetration in the East African region is rapidly expanding, and this will definitely help us in improving the overall security within Tanzanian, Kenyan and Ugandan markets,” said Said Amani Chief Financial Officer-SimbaNET.

NRD Chairman of the Board Kazimieras Tonkūnas added that, “NRD has a lot of expertise in East Africa and it is one of the main regions of our operations. Last November NRD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ISACA Tanzania Chapter on co-operation in the development and implementation of consultative Tanzanian National Cyber Security Framework. On this basis, the work to create the Cyber Security Framework has already begun. The contract with SimbaNET is a great leap forward”.
